In this glossary, I will try to define several words around the topic of Business.
a deal

an agreement entered into by two or more parties for their mutual benefit, especially in a business or political context
Example: Two businessmen signed a deal.

a firm
noun
A firm is an organization that employs productive resources to obtain products and/or services which are offered in the market with the aim of making a profit.
Example: My mother works for my dad's firm.

bitcoin
noun
Digital currency which allows payments to be sent from one party to another without going through a financial institution.
Example: Some people invest in bitcoins and they make a profit.

Businessman
noun
a man who works in commerce, especially at executive level.
Example: My dad is a businessman he works in finance.

Capital
noun
Money and other property of companies used in transacting the business.
Example: They have therefore not taken full advantage of the financial help available to them, and cannot use the CAPITAL elsewhere in the farm business.

Department store
noun group
A large shop or store that carries a wide variety of product lines.
Example: His wife works in a department store and she sells everything from a toothbrush to an apple.
Sum of money payable as a first instalment on a purchase; Money placed in an account in a bank.
Example: A bank DEPOSIT account with almost no risk delivers a better return.

Down payment

An initial payment made when something is bought on credit.
Example: She made a 10% down payment on the car.

Equity
noun
The value of stocks and shares; the net value of mortgaged property.
Example: The problem of dilution is because the Venture Capitalist Company will try to get the majority of the stock EQUITY and also may try to get the majority of the company ownership if things go well.

franchise
noun
Association between a manufacturer or wholesaler (franchiser) and an independent business person (franchisee) who buys the right to own and operate a unit in the franchise system.
Example: The Nestle and Pramalat brand for example, have been developed based on consumers' trust and hence the brand FRANCHISE that bears their name

To put money into a business, property, etc. in order to earn interest or profit.
Example: In the future, I intend to invest in real estate.

Liabilities
noun
The debts and obligations of a company or an individual.
Example: Furthermore, 95 per cent of its capital had been LIABILITIES and when the Russian bond market collapsed as consequence of a threatening bankruptcy of Russia, the prices of the bonds hold by LTCM differed further away from the fair historical values computed by complex computer programs.

Example: This company's packaging is so luxurious !

Receipt
noun
Written statement that money has been paid for something.
Example: After you buy something, you get a receipt summarizing your order and its price.

Refund

Pay back money received; reimburse.
Example: In terms of service, IKEA's strategy for solving problems is to ask the customer to bring the goods back to receive a REFUND, often involving the customer dismantling the item and driving many miles to get their REFUND.

adjective
showing no prejudice for or against something; impartial.
Example: Employers must be unbiased regarding gender, origin or religion.

Unemployment benefits

Payments made by the state to an unemployed person
Example: Even if you don't have a job, you will earn money thanks to unemployment benefits.

noun
a position to be filled in a company or a firm
Example: The company posted a job offer about a vacancy in the sales department.

Wholesale
noun
To sell goods in large quantities at low prices to those buying for resale (e.g. a shop) or for business use.
Example: It operates by outsourcing 56% of product lines through its strategic alliance with Nisa Today's, the UK's largest buying group for independent retail and WHOLESALE companies.
